Township News

  • Public Notice: Streed Drain Construction Update – Chikaming Township, Michigan

“Construction on the Streed Drain is scheduled to resume on Monday, September 9 and continue through early December. Work will begin at the intersection of Wintergreen Place and Greenwood Avenue.

Anticipated sequence of road work (in order):

    • Wintergreen Place

    • Greenwood Avenue (between Center and Oakwood)

    • Woodlawn Avenue

    • Oakwood Avenue (between Woodlawn and Red Arrow)

    • Oak Avenue

    • Greenwood Avenue (between Oak and Red Arrow)

Road sections will be closed in sequence as contractors progress through these areas.

Representatives from the contractor, engineering team, and/or the drain office will make every effort to contact adjacent landowners as construction moves forward. Contact will be made through door knocking, door hangers left at residences, and phone calls or emails when contact information is available. While our goal is to minimize disruptions, there may be times when temporary alternate parking arrangements or access routes to homes are necessary.

Essential services, including trash collection, mail delivery, and emergency services access, will be maintained during construction. If any unplanned disruptions to utilities (water, gas, sewer, etc.) occur, representatives will work with utility providers and landowners to minimize impacts and restore service as quickly as possible. Landowners who live on the roads listed above are encouraged to sign up for the CodeRed notification system, which may be used by Chikaming Township to issue urgent notifications. A link to CodeRed can be found on the Township’s website: ChikamingTownship.org.

If you have any questions, please email Ehrland.Bosworth@spicergroup.com.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to improve the Streed Drain system.”
